Raspberry Pi 4 Model B: Most powerful Raspberry Pi ever!

Raspberry Pi 4 Model B

What’s new in the Raspberry Pi 4?

There are lots of things changed in the latest Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. It has a new powerful processor, more RAM, support for connecting multiple displays, Gigabyte ethernet and a lot more things. This new version of Raspberry Pi is launched in June 2019. So, let’s first talk about the key specifications of this new version of Raspberry Pi.

Features of Raspberry Pi 4

Processor

It has the Broadcom BCM2711 SoC (System on Chip) which is Quad-core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @1.5GHz. The earlier model has a clock speed of 1.2 GHz which not a big difference.

Random Access Memory (RAM)

This new model has three different variants by RAM. 1GB, 2GB and 4GB LPDDR4-3200 SDRAM. This is a huge impact on the performance-based model because the earlier model contains only 1GB of RAM only.

Wireless & Network Connectivity

This model has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz IEEE 802.11ac Wireless connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0 with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) support. It has also the Gigabyte Ethernet and PoE (Power over Ethernet) for the connectivity. For PoE, it requires a separate PoE HAT of Raspberry Pi.

USB 3.0

It has USB 3.0 ports! As usual, it has four USB ports for the data and other connectivities, but two of them are USB 3.0 and the other two are USB 2.0. So, you can connect your external SSD or HDD and use them as a network drive using Raspberry Pi.

Multiple Displays

This contains two Micro-HDMI ports. Also, now you can connect your 4K displays to the Raspberry Pi. It supports a 4K60p display. But you can’t connect the two 4K60p displays at the same time. If you want to connect two 4K displays then it will run on the 4K30p else you can connect one 4K60p with other Full HD display.

Power Supply

They have upgraded the port for the power supply to USB-C from the old Micro-USB port. But it requires more power supply of 3A (recommended) while the older version requires 2.5A.

So, as per the overall review, I think it can replace normal computers because it’s compact and portable. Please write down in the comments below what do you think about it and can it replace the physical computers?
